Rita Bishop, a school superintendent, believes that children who do not feel safe cannot concentrate and learn. She has made dramatic changes in her school district and leads by example. Every meeting she conducts her principals starts with a safety issue. This has filtered down into the schools and classrooms. Recently, she spoke at a national conference about the successess in her school district.

Joshua Williams, Jr. was the first in a family of seven to go off to college. Mr. Williams conceived and implemented the Just Willing Foundation (JW) in June 2004 as a youth development program that was honoring his parents. The lengthy talks in which he had with his parents about his future, always resulted in the following statement “All things are possible, if you are Just Willing” . Remembering that statement empowered to start the Just Willing Foundation, that is developed to work with kids an ensure that anything is possible, if you put your mind to it. The organization is designed to pre-empt negative environmental influences and promote the positive development of high-risk, inner-city youth. The foundation has served as an effective support and intervention system for young African-American youth and adults.
